چکیده
Geodiversity promotes biodiversity by increasing habitat heterogeneity. In times of a global decline, data about diversity on such geological elements gains importance, also regarding conservation and restoration. the Canary Islands, phonolitic rocks are volcanic origin that represent additional for species. southern part island La Palma, phonolite can be encountered in matrices young lava. We provide biotic abiotic records from 60 plots 2 m × m, sampled neighbouring basaltic outcrops at four different sites cover wide environmental gradient. The recorded parameters were species abundances (percentage cover), plant individuals' frequency (number individuals per plot species), growth height (in cm), canopy diameter cm). Additionally, lichen cover) was estimated. To describe site specific characteristics, we surface dynamics (3D rock surface), aspect, inclination. This set covers vegetation trait comparing phonolites basalts Palma. It used biogeography, ecology sciences to help support fundamental research related insular endemism, identify priority areas protection preservation Islands.

Plant invasion and speciation along elevational gradients on the oceanic island La Palma, Canary Islands
Ecosystems that provide environmental opportunities but are poor in species and functional richness generally support speciation as well as invasion processes. These processes are expected not to be equally effective along elevational gradients due to specific ecological, spatial, and anthropogenic filters, thus controlling the dispersal and establishment of species. Here, we investigate specia...
متن کاملCumbre Vieja Volcano -- Potential collapse and tsunami at La Palma, Canary Islands
Geological evidence suggests that during a future eruption, Cumbre Vieja Volcano on the Island of La Palma may experience a catastrophic failure of its west flank, dropping 150 to 500 km of rock into the sea. Using a geologically reasonable estimate of landslide motion, we model tsunami waves produced by such a collapse. Waves generated by the run-out of a 500 km (150 km) slide block at 100 m/s...
متن کاملAr/Ar ages from transitionally magnetized lavas on La Palma, Canary Islands, and the geomagnetic instability timescale
[1] A detailed study of 43 lava flows comprising two stratigraphic sequences exposed along the north and south walls of Barranco de los Tilos on the island of La Palma, Canary Islands, reveals a complex, temporally segmented record of geodynamo behavior that contains no less than three distinct geomagnetic events. The Matuyama-Brunhes (M-B) reversal is recorded in five transitionally magnetized...
متن کاملInternal structure of the western flank of the Cumbre Vieja volcano, La Palma, Canary Islands, from land magnetotelluric imaging
[1] Large‐scale mass wasting is a natural part of the evolution of volcanic islands, where deformation and indications of flank instability, such as large‐scale faulting and seismic and aseismic slip are common. The Cumbre Vieja volcano on the island of La Palma (Canary Islands) provides an ideal setting to address fundamental questions about the structure, evolution and stability of island vol...
متن کاملHuman Rickettsia felis Infection, Canary Islands, Spain
We report the first cases of human infection by Rickettsia felis in the Canary Islands. Antibodies against R. felis were found in 5 adsorbed serum samples from 44 patients with clinically suspected rickettsiosis by Western blot serology. Fleas from 1 patient's dog were positive for R. felis by polymerase chain reaction.
